Hello!
My name is Ashley and I’m the designer and founder of Flourishing Penguin. My love for all things design started as a young child. I was constantly drawing and making things. I attended the University of Virginia where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art with a concentration in oil painting. After sometime in the real world, I realized that my creative juices weren’t flowing and I went back to school and earned my Master’s Degree in Interior Design.
I spent twelve years as the Creative Director for a web and graphic design company focused mainly on government contracting projects. While I learned a wealth of information about project and client management, the projects left me searching for something more. After designing all the paper materials for my own wedding, I knew I had finally found my creative calling. My passions for color, typography, paper and calligraphy all came together into one realized vision.
For three years, I worked as an event planner with the amazing and talented A. Dominick Events. I learned so much more about the wedding industry and loved every minute working with brides and their families. Early in 2018, I knew the time was right to branch out on my own and focus exclusively on stationery and branding.
I love the process of design: the excitement of a new project, the exploration of different concepts, the refinement of the final selection and the marvelous end result. I love the unique challenges of each and every project and every client. Contact me today so we can start working on your vision!
